Taylor is a poet-turned-essayist currently in her first year as an MFA candidate in Creative Nonfiction at George Mason University. Taylor currently serves as Managing Editor of Phoebe Journal, as Interview Editor for The Shore Poetry, and as the producer of Stillhouse Press' author spotlight podcast Moonshine Murmurs.
Originally from the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Taylor earned her B.A. in English with a minor in Media Studies and Communication from Salisbury University. She got her start in creative writing during her undergrad experience, where she wrote and began publishing poems with the support of the Writer's on the Shore Reading Series. In her senior year, Taylor got her first start in publishing by serving as the Editor-in-Chief of SU's campus literary journal The Scarab. It wasn't long after this experience that she decided she wanted to work in publishing, in whatever form allowed her to build community with other writers and promote the art she loved. It was in Salisbury that she realized the importance of journals and independent presses, both large and small, in supporting emerging writers and their work.
Although currently in school and working on her writing full-time, Taylor enjoys her work with Phoebe, The Shore and Stillhouse Press because it allows her to contribute to publicizing and spotlighting the work of new writers. Her goal is to continue building connections and experience in the literary community while developing her own work. She hopes that some day soon she can be an asset to the publishing industry and to other writers, someone who understands both sides of the table; the creation of art and the industry that brings it to life.
Taylor is deeply interested in the patterns and perspectives of other people and the stories they tell themselves about the unknown. She tries to deeply consider these nuances in her current work, and has recently written about the space race, the ocean, myths and monsters, and plans to write her thesis on the role of guns in American society.
Taylor's work can be found in several publications in print and online-- check out the publications tab for more details.
